Double Leaf Fire Door vs the alternatives
Against the single-leaf steel door, the width is the reason to choose it, and the cost is complexity. Two leaves need a meeting stile, coordinated closing so they shut in the right order, and rated seals at the joint as well as the perimeter. It is a well-understood arrangement, but it is more to get right and more to maintain.
