Mechanical Dock Leveler
A spring-operated mechanical dock leveler for bays where electrical supply isn't available at the pit. The operator walks the platform down to set working height; a pre-tensioned spring assembly and hold-down ratchet make it a low-cost, low-maintenance choice for moderate-traffic docks.

Where the Mechanical Dock Leveler fits
Bays that need a leveller but not a powered one: 6 or 8 tonne capacity, spring-operated with a pull chain, no electrical supply required. It suits lower-volume bays, sites where power at the dock face is awkward, and buildings where simplicity is worth more than speed.
Mechanical Dock Leveler vs the alternatives
Against a hydraulic leveller, the mechanical version costs less, needs no supply and has no hydraulics to maintain. The trade is physical: someone pulls a chain and walks the plate down for every trailer. On a bay handling a handful of vehicles a day that is fine; on one working all shift it becomes the reason nobody uses the leveller properly.
Specifying a Mechanical Dock Leveler
Tell us the honest daily vehicle count, because that is what decides between mechanical and hydraulic. Give the dock height and trailer bed range, and the heaviest forklift and load. Confirm pit dimensions if one exists, and say who operates the bay, since the chain has to be pulled by someone every time.
